Our wonderful choices for 3rd party candidates

As our options are wearing thin on who to vote for President, some have pondered voting for a 3rd party candidate.  Yet, very few of us have actually heard about many of these wonderful people. The Cajun Maverick will help you discern who is running and what they stand for.

Cynthia McKinney, Green Party

Everyone's favorite congresswoman from Georgia. Don't remember her? She is the one that shoved the Capitol policeman because he stopped her at a security checkpoint.  She said the reason was because she was black. The real reason was because she wasn't wearing her flare, aka the Congressional Pin.

Cynthia is currently a Ph. D. student at UC Berkeley (no surprise) who has spoken out against the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War. She was also a member of the Citizen's Commission on 9/11, and also enjoys blabbing about impeaching Bush.

Wayne Allyn Root, Libertarian Party

Wayne enjoys sports handicapping and writing books such as Millionaire Republican, a #1 bestseller on Amazon.com's personal finance group.  He also graduated in the same class as Barack Obama at Columbia.  He supports smaller government, reduced spending on entitlements. Wayne seems like a sensible version of Ron Paul.

Gene Amondson, Prohibition Party

This isn't Gene's first try at the Presidency.  In 2004, he received 1896 votes (1512 from the great state of Louisiana).  In his spare time, Gene loves to dress up as the Grim Reaper in front of the Anheuser-Bush bottler in St. Louis. Gene currently has 2 friends on his myspace page, one of whom is "Tom."

Brian Moore, Socialist Party USA

Brian is an anti-war activist and would love to make everyone miserable equally.  Sorry, Brian, we already have enough socialists running this election.

Donald Grundmann, Constitution Party

Donald is an anti-tax chiropractor who hails from sunny California. In his spare time, Donald protests taxes, Al Sharpton, and Gay (actually the Q word, TH censored) Youth Days. He also loves the Matrix movies.

So, here are just a few of our choices we look forward to voting for if we decide to avoid the Demerroid or the Repubeican. You are always welcome to check out a more complete list on wikipedia.  Most of my sources are wikipedia.  Gotta love it!  Feel free to add your own 3rd party favorites in the comments section.

Looking to form a PAC or 527... can anyone help?

I have registered a domain with the future intent of forming either a political action committee or a §527 organization, yet I have no clue what to do.  It could be a conservative version of moveon.org.  Can anyone give me any advice?

New Communism: Che Obama

Senator and Presidential Candidate Barack Obama opened a campaign office in Houston recently.  While the local Fox channel was showing a story on the new campaign office for Houston, the camera went into the director's office, only to find a Cuban flag with Che Guevara's face on it.

This isn't the only time Obama's been accused of being communist.  Tom Delay, in comments to CNN, claims that Obama's voting record in the Illinois senate was that of a Marxist.  Even his voting record in 2007 is more liberal than Hillary's!

If you can't vote for McCain, don't vote Democrat

Many conservatives, including myself, are dismayed at the assumed nomination of John McCain.  Some of my friends are saying they'll vote for the Democrat instead of McCain.  Even Ann Coulter has expressed her displeasure with McCain and has threatened to vote for Hillary.  Yet, I think this is the wrong approach to take.

Let's take a basic example.  Say you have 100 voters.  50 of them vote for the Demerroid nominee and 50 vote for the Repubeican.    Now instead, 10 of the Repubeican voters are pissed off at the nominee and decide to vote for the Demerroid.  Now, the Demerroid wins with a 60/40 vote.

But, what would happen if instead those 10 voters voted for a third party candidate?  The vote count will be 50/40/10.  While the Demerroid would win, they really couldn't claim a mandate.  With 60/40, the Demerroid can claim a mandate.

I'm rather confused as to how McCain is getting so much support.  Is it because true conservatives are split?  None of the candidates have won many majority votes in individual states.  The moderate and liberal Repubeicans have one choice, while conservative Republicans had 2 until Mitt suspended his campaign.

There is one major issue that will vastly outlast a one-term President.  The next President could appoint quite a few Supreme Court Justices, who only leave office by resignation, impeachment, or death.  Impeachment is a rather hard process, which truly makes these justices unaccountable.  We must be careful with our votes because of this one huge reason.  With a liberal-leaning court, we could be forced to accept gay marriage and give up our guns.

This is truly a catch 22.  Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.  The GOP may just say, "What we have is better than the alternative, and you will like it."  I wish it wasn't this dangerous to not vote GOP.  I hope that my fellow conservatives think long and hard before deciding how to vote.

My name is Cajun Maverick, and I approve this blog.

Are all earmarks bad?

One of the big sticking points that conservatives have with Republicans is pork barrel spending.  We've all grown to hate things such as the "Bridge to Nowhere" and the "Woodstock Museum" earmarks.    Lots of us are upset because of the Congressional override of Bush's veto of the water projects bill.  But are all earmarks bad?

I think not.

There can be good uses for earmarks.  I think earmarks for public good are useful.  Is there anything truly wrong with tax dollars going to improve existing highways and interstates?  What about upgrading public utilities?

Of course, there are many things that are wasteful and politically driven.  Look at all the farm subsidies we give sugar farmers.  According to Jim Rogers in Adventure Capitalist, it is cheaper to give sugar farmers $1 million and make them promise to never farm sugar again than it is to continue the subsidies.

I think the important thing is to be truthful and open about what earmarks are out there.  Jack Murtha, the douchebag, has lots of earmarks for his district... probably more than anyone else out there.  Of course, he skirted House rules to get them in there.

WTF, Mate? Hunter Endorses Huckabee??

I am/was a HUGE Duncan Hunter supporter.  Yet, this leaves me scratching my head.  Why is Duncan Hunter, someone who is tough against illegal immigration, supporting Mike Huckabee who has a record of being weak on this issue?  Let's look at a few things.

1.  Taxes:  Hunter supported reducing taxes on manufactoring companies to help their competitiveness around the world.  In many European countries, manufacturers are not subject to income taxes, but instead pay a refundable "value added tax."  Hunter is a supporter of a FairTax as a way to get these manufacturers a huge tax break.

2.  China:  Hunter has called out Mitt Romney on his connections to China.  So, there, Hunter would not endorse Romney for President.

3.  SecDef:  Huckabee has mentioned Hunter has a potential Secretary of Defense for his administration.  However, I see Hunter as a potential VP slot for Huckabee (that is, if Huckabee doesn't pick Colbert).

But really, who do we have left in this election?  We have 5 true candidates left, none of whom have a conservative record.  Romney and Huckabee are the two that talk more like conservatives than Giuliani, McCain, and Paul.

It's a mystery.  What is a conservative to do?

Let's Blame Big Oil For Katrina

In a place that loves to put blame on others, America can now blame Big Oil for Katrina.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080120/ap_on_re_us/katrina_oil_canals

So now, let's all sue Exxon for making Katrina victims suffer.  Instead of trying to take responsibility, let's make Chevron and BP repay them for their problems.

A Real Economic Stimulus Package

As Congress gets back to what they call "work," it and President Bush must come together and decide on how to help America steer away from an economic recession.  Many economists have brought their ideas to the table, with the only consistent theme being "temporary" and "timely."  Ideas floated are tax rebates, faster expensing of new fixed assets purchased, and possibly lowering tax rates.  So, let's look at my idea, which I think could also stay permanent.

1.  Tax rebates for individuals:  If Congress were to eliminate the 10% tax bracket and instead include that as part of your filing exemption (the part of your income that is exempt depending on your filing status, such as single, married filing joint, etc), that would provide $700 for singles and $1400 for married filing joint filers.  Congress should make that retroactive for tax year 2006, 2007, and make it permanent going forward.  It's a tax cut for all taxpayers!

2.  Increase DPAD deduction:  DPAD stands for Domestic Production Activities Deduction.  Its purpose is to provide an incentive to U.S. manufacturers to keep their factories and products here in the U.S.  However, the tax savings is currently only 2% on qualified income.  With my proposal, we should allow for a bigger tax savings to manufacturers, up to 50%, to provide real tax relief to our manufacturers and make them more competitive to the market.

3.  Decrease corporate rates:  America already has some of the highest corporate tax rates in the industrialized world.  We need to slash corporate rates.  An across the board rate cut of just 3% will make a lot of difference to corporations.

4.  Make Bush's tax cuts permanent:  This one is a no-brainer.

So, members of Congress, look at my proposal.  I think it'll work!

What We Need From Government

What we need:  A government to protect the people.
What we have:  A government that controls the people.

What we need:  A government that encourages people to be successful.
What we have:  A government that punishes people for being rich and successful.

What we need:  A government that encourages those who fall down to pick themselves up.
What we have:  A government that keeps people on welfare and food stamps.

What we need:  A government that helps job growth and keeps jobs from going overseas.
What we have:  A government that taxes business too high and promotes moving facilities to Mexico and China.

Please feel free to add suggestions!  I'll continue to update it.

Duncan Hunter Drops Out of Race :(

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  January 19, 2008

CONTACT:  Gary Becks  (619) 334-1655, garybecks@yahoo.com
San Diego, Calif.
We started this campaign a year ago right here, in San Diego Harbor, against the backdrop of American Naval power.   We launched a campaign emphasizing a strong national defense, enforceable borders and restoring  the industrial base of America.
Today we end this campaign.  The Nevada caucuses reflecting only 2% of the vote for me.   I ran the campaign exactly the way I wanted to, and at this point not being able to gain traction in conservative states of Nevada and South Carolina, it's time to allow our volunteers and supporters to focus on the campaigns that remain viable.
It's time for me to gear up for 2008's defense bill that will be put together over the coming weeks.  There is work to be done in the areas of troop protection and new capabilities to be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And over the horizon, the emergence of Communist China as a military super power will require a new emphasis on U.S. capabilities in undersea warfare, space, and long range air-power.
The best way to maintain a new era of peace is for the U.S. to remain strong.  Over the coming year I will endeavor to help craft a defense bill that meets the new security challenges.
Since our campaign began over 200,000 additional manufacturing jobs have been lost.  1.8 million jobs have left the U.S. for China.  This fracturing of the U.S. industrial base is a long term threat to America.  I hope that the remaining candidates will recognize it and address it.   As the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, I will seek to address it.
Only hours ago a border patrolman was killed in the California Desert.  This tragedy emphasizes more than ever the compelling case for the completion of the border fence.   Since I wrote the bill that mandates 854 miles of double border fence only a few miles have been constructed.  Over the next year in Congress I will do everything in my power to get that fence built.
Finally, for Lynn and me, the campaign over the last year has shown us this: America is a wonderful country.   Our people have great character and goodness, and the meeting of new friends has enriched our lives.
The failure of our campaign to gain traction is mine and mine alone.  But we have driven the issues of national security, the border fence, the emergence of China and the need to reverse bad trade policy.   Because of that, this campaign has been very worthwhile, and for the Hunter family, a lot of fun.
To our friends and supporters and volunteers: many thanks.  And now it's time for me to focus on developing a 2008 defense bill that serves our troops and our nation.
Thanks, and God Bless America.
Duncan Hunter

Change? You got any change?

One thing a lot of Democrats are promising is change.  Change, change, change.  So give me 4 quarters, and I'll give you a dollar bill.

Change isn't always good.  A change in your paycheck is a perfect example of potential bad change.  Let's imagine Democrats control the government.  Your paycheck is going to shrink.  While they say the tax increases only affect the rich, these increases somehow always find their way to hit the middle class.

Generally, liberals want government control of certain things.  How is this change a good thing?  Can anyone name me one thing the government does well?  Do you really think government-controlled health care is that great?

I think college students are the worst on this.  They see Obama and Paul as the agents of change, but do they really know what these two believe?  The changes they want are either irresponsible or not possible.

Let's not look for change for change sake.  We need responsible change.

The media is censoring Duncan Hunter!

WHY DOES THE MEDIA CONTINUE TO IGNORE HUNTER?

This was an email I received from Heidi Theiss, Duncan Hunter's Texas Grassroots Coordinator.  It's obvious that the media is working against Hunter from even being mentioned.  If you support Duncan Hunter, please email the people listed below and make a difference!

Fellow Duncan Hunter supporters,

I need your help.  We need to take action on Duncan Hunter’s behalf. I am bringing you some information that I think only grassroots and alternative media can do anything about.  It should be somewhat chilling to realize how much the media is manipulating campaign information and access.  I don't write this to whine "it's not fair!", but to make you aware that there is a real problem.  I've tried to handle this through official channels (ie:  the SC GOP, Fox News, and Real Clear Politics) to no avail. So I'm bringing my case to you.

Full Disclosure:  I am the Grassroots Coordinator in Texas for the Duncan Hunter Campaign.

As you know, Duncan Hunter was excluded from the debates in Hew Hampshire and now in South Carolina . (The NH GOP withdrew their sponsorship from the NH debates in protest of the media's exclusion of some candidates.)  Duncan Hunter is a viable and active candidate in good standing.  He had to pay a very large fee to get his name on the primary ballot in South Carolina !  He has a network of volunteers that has worked very hard, but all are barred by the SC GOP from even attending the debate.  Worse, he is being excluded based upon one criterion imposed by Fox News:  he has not garnered 5% of the national electorate as determined by recent polling

So where is Fox News getting their poll data from?  If you go to their website, Duncan Hunter is not even listed as a candidate.  Furthermore, Fox News is drawing their consolidated poll data from Real Clear Politics, an online clearinghouse for dozens of polls.  According to Real Clear Politics, he doesn't exist.  He is nowhere in their polling data – they are not even tracking him!

Therefore, Fox News is using incomplete poll data (and thereby skewed data) to exclude a candidate from the debates.  Information is knowingly being withheld from voters in these early states, and their access to a Presidential candidate is barred.  This, in turn, is affecting results in later states as candidates are prematurely dropped from consideration – BY THE MEDIA.  By allowing the media to control the process, the entire primary process is being undermined. Not only is that unethical, it is manipulative, and it is blatantly contrary to the American electoral process.  There is no one holding the SC GOP or Fox News accountable.

It is far too early to exclude candidates from the process - that is not fair to the voters.  Fox News is manipulating voter access and unfortunately, the South Carolina GOP is allowing it.  It is shameful and anti-American.

What can you do?  First of all, forward this email to every person you know.  It’s important to get the word out.  Secondly, post it on forums where you are a member.  Lastly, consider contacting the decision-makers at the contact info I’ve included below:

Ron Paul: Taxpayers' Favorite Hypocite

From Houston's Hometown Pravda, the Chronicle.

Ron Paul says he's against earmarks, yet why did he insert all these earmarks into appropriations bills?  Don't believe me?  Look for yourself.
